🦋 Monarchs in the Rough – Year-End Appreciation Post
As we wrap up the year, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the golf courses—Audubon International members and non-members alike—who have signed up to participate in our Monarchs in the Rough program. This week, we officially reached our goal of 125 new signups, which means 125 additional acres of monarch habitat will be or have already been planted on golf courses across the country. These new acres join the efforts of our 800+ current participants who are already restoring and supporting pollinator habitat through this initiative.
This collective impact is incredibly meaningful. By restoring native milkweed and wildflower habitat, golf courses are helping to:
-
Support the declining monarch butterfly population
-
Provide essential nectar sources for a wide range of pollinators
-
Strengthen ecological resilience across managed landscapes
-
Demonstrate how golf courses can be powerful partners in conservation
We are continuing to provide seed to Audubon International certified members, but at this time, we are not able to offer seed or signage to non-certified golf courses until additional funding becomes available. Please keep an eye out for future updates—we hope to expand support again as new funding opportunities arise.
Thank you once again for your commitment to restoring monarch habitat and enhancing biodiversity on the landscapes you manage. If your course is Audubon International certified, we encourage you to join the hundreds of golf courses already taking part in this important initiative. Together, we’re making a tremendous difference for monarchs and other pollinators. 🦋🌼
